Shrewsbury is one of a number of towns located on the River Severn which flows from the mountains of North Wales to its Estuary flowing into the Bristol Channel.

The River is the longest in Britain and has the most voluminous flow of water by far in all of England and Wales. It regularly floods in the cities and towns on it's route.
